Asia/Seoul applies exclusively to South Korea (Republic of Korea). The zone identifier covers all regions of the country, from Seoul in the northwest to Busan in the southeast, and includes Jeju Island. There are no sub-zones; the entire nation shares a single time offset.

Korea Standard Time (KST) is fixed at UTC+09:00. The abbreviation KST is widely used domestically and internationally. The offset is 9 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). For example, when it is 12:00 UTC, it is 21:00 KST. This offset places Seoul in the same time zone as Japan (Asia/Tokyo) and parts of Russia (Asia/Yakutsk), but note that some of those zones observe daylight saving time while South Korea does not.

Daylight Saving Time (DST)

South Korea does not observe daylight saving time. The country experimented with DST from 1948 to 1951 and again from 1955 to 1960, but has not used it since. The offset remains constant at UTC+09:00 year-round. This means there is no spring-forward or fall-back adjustment.
