Billable Hours Calculator with Time Rounding
Category: Date-Time Format ConvertersCalculate billable hours and fees
How to calculate billable hours
Add the tracked durations, convert the total to decimal hours, and multiply by the hourly rate. The calculator accepts HH:MM entries such as 1:30 and decimal entries such as 1.5.
Billing increments and rounding
Common increments include 5, 6, 10, 15 and 30 minutes. Six minutes equals 0.1 hour. A policy may round to the nearest increment, always up, or always down. Apply the rule agreed with the client; do not assume that every industry uses the Same method.
Per-entry versus total rounding
Rounding each entry can produce a different amount from summing raw time and rounding once. For example, several short entries rounded upward individually can materially increase the billed total. This calculator shows the result using either scope so the difference is explicit.
Invoice checks
Retain the original time records, state the billing increment in the engagement terms, and review the calculated amount before invoicing. Currency, taxes, minimum charges and professional-conduct requirements are outside this calculator and should be handled separately.
