You give it a Date, a time, and a time zone—and it instantly shows how many days, hours, minutes, and seconds remain. It even adjusts for daylight saving time automatically.

Here’s how to use it - Nothing complicated

1. Set your deadline

At the top, you’ll see a section labeled “Set Deadline.” Use the dropdowns to:

• Choose your deadline date
• Enter your deadline time
• Select the time zone where the deadline takes place (options include UTC, EST/EDT, PST/PDT, CST/CDT, and MST/MDT)

2. Click “Calculate Reminder”

Once your deadline info is in, hit the “⏰ Calculate Reminder” button. That’s when the magic happens.

3. Watch the live countdown begin

Below the button, the “Time Remaining” section will light up, showing exactly how much time you have left—down to the second. It updates every moment in real time.

A few helpful features that might not jump out right away

It adjusts for daylight saving time on its own

You don’t have to worry about calculating whether a particular U.S. time zone is in standard or daylight time—the script checks the date and makes the right call automatically. Handy for deadlines in Spring or fall.

You can switch between 12-hour and 24-hour formats

Down near the live clock, there’s a button labeled “24 Hour.” Click it if you prefer 12-hour format with AM/PM. Click again to switch back. The current time display updates instantly.

It sets today’s date and time by default

When you open the calculator, the time and date inputs are already pre-filled with your current local values. That makes it faster to plug in deadlines that are only a few hours or days away.

Visual feedback helps you know it worked

Once you calculate the reminder, the countdown section gives a quick animated nudge and color highlight to show it's updated. Subtle, but a Nice touch when you're doing quick checks.

Missed the deadline? It lets you know

If your deadline has already passed, the countdown flips to all zeroes, and the lightbulb icon changes to a warning symbol with the message “Deadline has passed!” That way you’re not left wondering whether something went wrong.
