About Jumada al-Akhira
Jumada al-Akhira marks the halfway point of the Hijri year. It is the final month before the 'Season of Light' (Rajab, Shaban, and Ramadan) begins. It acts as the gateway to the most sacred quarter of the year.
Significance & Historical Context
This month is notable for the passing of the first Caliph, Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (RA). His life of absolute 'Siddiqiyah' (truthfulness) is the primary lesson of this month—being true to Allah in both private and public.
The theme is 'Muhasabah' (Self-Accounting). Before a believer can plant seeds in Rajab, they must first clear the weeds from their heart in Jumada al-Akhira. It is a month of audit and rectification.
Recommended Acts
- Settling any outstanding fasts from the previous Ramadan before the new one approaches.
- Clearing financial debts or fulfilling 'Amanat' (trusts) owed to others.
- Increasing voluntary charity to 'loosen' the heart's attachment to the dunya.
