Convert Any Timestamp in Seconds

If you’ve ever stared at a string of numbers like 1609459200 and wondered what time it’s actually pointing to, this timestamp converter is here to help. Whether you're working with Unix time, ISO 8601 formats, or just want something human-readable, this tool translates time into whatever makes sense to you—instantly.

What this timestamp converter actually does

This calculator takes any of the four major timestamp formats—Unix time in seconds, Unix time in milliseconds, ISO 8601 strings, or your local date and time—and converts them into every other format. So you can enter one, and the rest will automatically appear.

Not only that, it also shows you the current time in three formats live: Unix seconds, Unix milliseconds, and ISO string. It's especially handy if you're working with time-sensitive apps, databases, or logs.

Why people use it—and keep it bookmarked

Developers and analysts often deal with raw timestamps, and interpreting them manually can be slow and error-prone. This tool gives you quick, visual feedback across all major formats. It’s also useful for comparing local time to UTC, or if you’re debugging a time mismatch in a system that logs in multiple formats.

You don’t need to memorize how many milliseconds are in a second or figure out time zone offsets—it’s all done for you behind the scenes.

How to use it step by step

Start with any one input

  • Unix Seconds: Enter a number like 1609459200.
  • Unix Milliseconds: For example, 1609459200000.
  • ISO 8601 String: Input something like 2021-01-01T00:00:00.000Z.
  • Local Date & Time: Use the date picker to select your current time.

As soon as you begin typing in one field, the others clear out—so you’re always working from one starting point. This helps avoid confusion and makes sure your conversion is accurate.

Hit the Convert button

Click the big ⟷ button in the middle. In a flash, the tool fills in all the other time formats—so you’ll see your input converted to:

  • Unix seconds
  • Unix milliseconds
  • ISO 8601 string
  • Your local date & time
  • UTC date & time
  • A nicely formatted date (like “January 1, 2021, 12:00 AM”)

Working with 12-hour vs. 24-hour time

Prefer a 24-hour clock over AM/PM? You can toggle between the two using the Time Format button at the bottom. Just click once to switch, and the UTC and formatted date displays will update instantly.

Tips to get the most out of it

  • Live timestamp values update every second. So if you're using it for current time checks, just look at the bottom panel for the latest values.
  • One input at a time: Typing in multiple fields won’t break it, but the tool is designed to take one format and convert from there. It automatically clears the other input fields when you start typing.
  • Need to check “right now”? When the page loads, it fills in the current time in all fields for you to use or edit.

If your input isn't working

If nothing happens when you click convert, double-check that:

  • You only entered one format (the others should be blank)
  • The timestamp is valid—no stray characters or partial strings
  • You didn’t confuse seconds with milliseconds (they’re very different in size)

If the tool catches an invalid entry, it’ll let you know with a friendly alert before trying to convert anything.

Keep your schedule synced and your timestamps clear

Whether you’re logging events, syncing times between systems, or just trying to figure out what that long number in your server log actually means, this converter is made to give you clarity without the guesswork. It's fast, clean, and always knows what time it is.
