Fast, Flexible Speed Timer
Why this timer goes beyond basic clocks
This isn't just a countdown clock or a digital stopwatch. It's a speed-focused timer designed for people who want control down to the millisecond. Whether you're running sprints, doing interval training, practicing reaction time, or timing a focused work sprint, the Speed Timer gives you the setup you need to stay locked in.
It’s packed with Tools that fit everything from workouts to presentations to reflex testing—all in one clean, responsive interface.
Four timing modes, one clean interface
Countdown Timer
Need to set a timer for a speech, sprint, or productivity sprint? You can dial in the exact minutes, seconds, and milliseconds you want. If you’re short on time, you can also click one of the preset buttons like 10s, 1m, or 5m and go.
Stopwatch
Start, pause, lap, and reset. Track total elapsed time and record lap splits with millisecond accuracy. You’ll see each lap broken down in a list with total and segment times, which is especially useful for speed reading, track intervals, or productivity tracking.
Interval Training
Alternate between work and rest with full control over durations and number of rounds. It's ideal for HIIT, study bursts, or even custom circuits. You’ll see which phase you’re in—Work or Rest—along with which round you’re on and what’s coming next.
Reaction Timer
Click as fast as you can when the circle changes color. This mode tests your reaction speed, then gives you feedback like “Excellent!” or “Keep practicing!” based on your time. It's great for gamers, athletes, or anyone who wants to sharpen their reflexes.
Step-by-step: Setting your timer
- Type in a name for your timer (optional, but it’ll show on the display).
- Select a mode: Countdown, Stopwatch, Interval, or Reaction.
- For countdown or interval, enter your time values. You can also use the quick preset buttons for fast setup.
- Pick your options: high precision (for milliseconds), auto-start, quick reset with spacebar, and sound alerts.
- Click “Start Speed Timer” or press Space to begin.
Built-in tools that make this timer smarter
- Quick reset: Press Space to stop and reset if you’ve enabled the option.
- Lap tracking: Use L to mark laps in stopwatch mode and see a full breakdown.
- Auto-start on load: For repetitive routines, check this and the timer starts automatically when you open the page.
- Sound alerts: Choose to hear beeps at phase changes, countdowns, or finishes. These help when you’re away from the screen.
- Keyboard shortcuts: Spacebar (start/stop/reset), P (pause/resume), L (lap), and R (reset).
Tips from the timer’s design
Based on how this tool is built, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Countdown Timers must have a value greater than zero, or they won’t start.
- If you're using Interval Training, both work and rest phases need time values, or it might not behave as expected.
- Precision mode (milliseconds) is on by default, but you can turn it off to focus only on minutes and seconds.
- Reaction mode won’t start the test until after a random delay - don’t click early or you’ll get a “Too early” message.
- If you’re a fan of 24-hour clocks, click the toggle to switch formats. The live time display updates instantly.
Keep your timing sharp, and your schedule sharper
Whether you're training, working, or just trying to stay on track, the Speed Timer makes accurate timing easy. It's responsive, flexible, and loaded with features for people who care about performance. With modes tailored to whatever pace you’re working at, it’s a small tool that helps you make every second count.
