Al Isra’ wal Mi’raj (27th Rajab)

Signification, histoire et dates observées

A night of sheer wonder, the ‘Night Journey and Ascension’ is a miracle that defies the laws of physics and honors the status of the Prophet (PBUH) above all of creation.

Narratif historique

The journey consists of two parts: 1. ‘Isra’: The night travel from Makkah to Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on the Buraq. 2. ‘Mi’raj’: The ascension through the seven heavens, meeting previous Prophets (Musa, Isa, Ibrahim, etc.), and finally reaching ‘Sidrat al-Muntaha’ (The Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary) to speak with Allah.

Signification spirituelle

This journey occurred during the ‘Year of Sorrow’ (Am al-Huzn) after the Prophet lost his wife Khadija (RA) and uncle Abu Talib. It was a divine gift of comfort. Most importantly, it was during this journey that the 5 daily prayers (Salah) were mandated.

Leçons pour le croyant
