Give AI assistants accurate world time

The Time.Now MCP server exposes the same current-time engine as our public JSON API through read-only tools designed for AI clients. No API key is required.

Remote MCP endpoint
https://time.now/es/mcp

Connect

Add a remote Streamable HTTP server to your MCP client's configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "time-now": {
      "url": "https://time.now/es/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Configuration keys vary slightly between MCP clients. Use the endpoint above wherever your client asks for a remote MCP or Streamable HTTP URL.

Available tools

get_current_time

Current local time, UTC offset, abbreviation, DST state, Unix timestamp, and calendar fields for an IANA timezone.

list_timezones

Search the supported IANA timezone names with a bounded result limit.

lookup_ip_time

Resolve an explicit public IPv4 or IPv6 address to its timezone and current local time.

Example request

{
  "jsonrpc": "2.0",
  "id": 1,
  "method": "tools/call",
  "params": {
    "name": "get_current_time",
    "arguments": {"timezone": "America/Vancouver"}
  }
}

The result includes both human-readable text and structured JSON, allowing an assistant to cite the value or pass it into another tool.

Protocol and privacy

Read-only and stateless. The server does not modify accounts or retain MCP sessions. IP lookup runs only when a client explicitly supplies an address.
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP over HTTPS
  • Authentication: none
  • Responses: JSON-RPC 2.0 with structured tool output
  • Data source: the same timezone engine used by the Time.Now JSON API
